A video game created and produced by BYU students recently received the Highly Commended award from the Rookie Awards, an international board that ranks video game design schools. The board also named BYU the number five school in the world for game design and development.
Liminus: The Silent Guard was directed and produced by students Emily Ellis and Gabe Reed. Ellis and Reed collaborated with nearly 50 other students to complete the ambitious project. In the game, users play as a shepherd who rescues and protects lost sheep, fending off vicious wolves and other dangers.
Ellis and Reed say that designing a video game requires a laser-like focus on the game’s core experiences as well as attention to keeping all the moving parts in order. They are grateful that BYU provided them with real-world, studio-like experience and feel that because of it they are prepared for success in the industry.
