Make a Gift to MissionaryGeneral Missionary Fund
In record numbers, young men and young women from around the globe are feeling the desire to serve. Not all have the financial resources, however, to fully fund a full-time mission. Generous donors provide needed funding so that all who want to serve a full-time mission may do so.
Your Donations at Work
During 2021 we saw the number of missionaries begin to increase slightly from the previous year as vaccinations became available and COVID-19 restrictions began to ease. In December 2021 there were approximately 54,500 full-time missionaries sharing the gospel message in more than 160 countries throughout the world. Statistics are as of December 31, 2021.
In 2021, as pandemic-related restrictions eased in many parts of the world, missionary training centers were reopened to on-site training. By the end of the year, all missionary training centers were operating with on-site missionaries except the New Zealand MTC (due to local restrictions). New missionaries receive training first at home and later (when possible) at an on-site MTC. Based on conditions throughout the world, the number of missionaries who received on-site training at an MTC reached 75 percent in December 2021.

You Can Help
More than 35 percent of the current missionary force needs at least partial assistance from the General Missionary Fund to serve. In 2013, President Monson invited members to help support these missionaries in their efforts to serve the Lord in a meaningful way. Donations really do help “change and save lives.”

A Note from David N. Weidman
Managing Director, Missionary Department
On behalf of the Missionary Department and missionaries worldwide, we express our deep appreciation for your faith-filled gift. Thank you for helping to sustain thousands of missionaries
who are able to embark on an experience of a lifetime that blesses them and their posterity forever. Thank you for helping these devoted servants to fulfill our Savior’s commission
given over two millennia ago: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:19).
We have been blessed to witness the Lord’s guiding hand as the sacred work of sharing
the gospel of Jesus Christ has progressed in important ways in 2022. We see His hand as
the world begins to move beyond the pandemic, as the number of missionaries worldwide
continues to grow, and as we use technology to find and teach in ever more creative and
exciting ways. We see His hand in the faithful service and sacrifice of mission leaders and
in the dedicated work of our talented staff and volunteers. We clearly see His hand in the
marvelous faith of people like you who choose to reach out and give.
We stand united with you in the certainty that the worth of souls is great in the sight of
God. President Russell M. Nelson taught: “For centuries, prophets have foretold this gathering,
and it is happening right now! As an essential prelude to the Second Coming of the Lord, it is the most important work in the world!” (“Let God Prevail,” Ensign or Liahona, Nov. 2020, 92). As this vital work of salvation accelerates, we are grateful for your continued support of our missionaries who face a world that desperately needs the light and hope of our Savior’s restored gospel. May the knowledge that countless lives are enriched by your gift bring you deep and lasting joy.
