An Education Filled with Light

A smiling young woman in a blue dress“My professors continually connect the material of their classes to the gospel,” Lynsie Huff says of her experience at BYU. She is a senior studying social science teaching in the McKay School of Education. Huff is from Pleasant Grove, Utah, and is student teaching US history to 8th graders.

She recently participated in the Constitutional Engagement Program with Wheatley Institute, which included on-campus preparation sessions and a field trip to Philadelphia and Washington, DC. “Everything about the trip prepared me to teach American history,” she says.

While in Philadelphia, Huff was walking with a group of BYU students when a man approached and asked where they were from. When they told him they were from BYU, he asked, “Are you Mormons?” He then told them that they had a special light about them. Huff says, “I know what he saw was the light of Christ, and he helped me see more clearly Jesus Christ’s influence in myself and others.”
