20 million disabled people need wheelchairs but cannot obtain one. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides wheelchairs and walking aids to those in need who cannot afford one. The recipient’s mobility, employability, and independence are greatly increased.
Last year, the Church provided wheelchairs to 17,381 people in 16 countries. People in 134 countries and territories have been helped since 2001.

March 1 is International Wheelchair Day. One of the global initiatives of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Wheelchair Training and Distribution. LDS Charities, the social arm of the Church has been engaged in wheelchair distribution for 10 years.
