45 million people are blind; millions more have severely limited eyesight. Local, qualified doctors are trained to diagnose and treat vision problems. Humanitarian Services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who operates Latter-day Saint Charities, provides equipment and supplies essential for these procedures.

Last year, Humanitarian Services provided vision care to 401,548 people in 17 countries. Nearly one million people in 81 countries and territories have been helped since 2003.
