Nursing is my profession of choice because I enjoy taking care of others when they are in need. I find purpose in comforting, consoling, and befriending my patients. I try to be a source of healing and positivity.
At BYU, I have learned about the many roles that nurses hold. A nurse’s most crucial function is to advocate for patients. An advocate is defined as one who pleads for the cause of another. Nurses have the unique opportunity to care for patients individually, bringing understanding and respect.
Thanks to my education at BYU, I realized that I want to be an advocate for those I care for. This has motivated my studies and shaped my future. I greatly appreciate (donors) investment in my goals and plans.

Sarah remembers the enchanting feeling while visiting a critically ill family friend as a child. “A hospice worker came with a harp and played soothing music while my dear friend lay in bed dying.
These national and international experiences are life changing and greatly impact their patient care.
