Kika Londoño

When Kika Londoño was eight years old, her family moved from Utah to Colombia for a year and a half. During this formative time, she came to love Latin America and the Spanish language. She kept up her Spanish and eventually served a mission to San José, California, where she interpreted for the Spanish branch almost every Sunday for nine months. “That’s when I realized I could really be an interpreter,” she says.

Londoño majored in Spanish translation at BYU and ultimately got an inspiring learning student job as a Spanish translator for BYU Speeches. She says it was life-changing.

BYU Speeches is now publishing selected devotionals online in French, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. Student translators, both language students and native speakers, are honing translation skills as they deliver BYU content to non-English-speaking audiences.
