New Academic Vice President
Isaiah Walker, professor in the Faculty of Language, Culture & Performing Arts, was appointed academic vice president following the retirement of John Bell.
New Academic Vice President for Religious Education
Aaron Shumway, son of former BYU–Hawaii president Eric B. Shumway (1994–2007), was appointed associate academic vice president for religious education.
COVID-19 Response
Vigilance. That has been BYU–Hawaii’s watchword in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with everything from helping students return home and back again, to on-campus testing and vaccinations. Now the university is prepared to return to in-person instruction for the fall 2021 semester.
A Prophecy Fulfilled
Three people with ties to BYU–Hawaii worked together with more than 30 volunteers to digitize the Hawaiian language Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. The project was transformative, they said, as they witnessed the Lord’s hand throughout the process and in the lives of those who helped.
