BYU–Hawaii Signature Scholarship

BYU–Hawaii’s purpose is to prepare students from Oceania and the Asian Rim spiritually and academically. Many students from these areas cannot afford a college education and do not have access to other aid. To help these students, BYU–Hawaii offers IWORK, a comprehensive work-study scholarship program.

IWORK allows students to pay what they can afford, work part-time, and receive financial assistance to make up the difference. IWORK gives students from the humblest of circumstances a chance to receive an education while learning self-reliance and preparing for their future beyond college.

With an IWORK Signature Scholarship, you can change a life and help IWORK grow. The scholarship also provides a way for you to more personally support students and see first-hand the tremendous impact education has on their lives.

Three characteristics make a Signature Scholarship unique:

1. Naming and Designation

A Signature Scholarship allows you to name your scholarship—for yourself, your organization, or a loved one.* Each scholarship is designated for IWORK, BYU–Hawaii’s comprehensive work-study scholarship program. New incoming IWORK students will be selected to receive the scholarship which will then free up other IWORK donations to be used for other IWORK students. Essentially, for every Signature Scholarship created, another IWORK student is supported.

2. Annual Meet & Greet

Each year, Signature Scholarship donors are invited to meet with scholarship recipients via video call. This gives you an opportunity to meet the students you support and hear about how the scholarship is blessing their lives.

3. Affordability

Whereas named scholarships are typically reserved for large endowments, Signature Scholarships are feasible for donors in many financial situations. A scholarship can be established with a commitment of $14,000 which generally will fund one IWORK student per year. The university encourages providing this support over the course of four years or less.**
