“Music is an international language – sacred music in particular. When the Choir sings, there is no language anymore. There are no borders. Music is a way for the Church to reach out to all the world, all people, and communicate with them from the heart.”
- Bishop Gérald Caussé, Presiding Bishop and advisor to The Tabernacle ChoirOur History
Less than a month after the first pioneers arrived in Salt Lake Valley, under the direction of Brigham Young, a choir was formed to sing at a conference of the Church. From this small beginning, the Choir has become known worldwide. In 1929, the Choir began broadcasting Music & The Spoken Word on the radio, and this program is now the world’s longest continuing network broadcast. Its audience continues to grow as languages are added to its outreach.
All volunteers, choir members unitedly raise their voices to God, giving faith-promoting service to the world through fervent song. Through inspiring music, the Choir brings joy, peace, and healing to its listeners around the world.

A Note Michael O. Leavitt
President, The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square
As the new president of The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, I feel profound feelings of gratitude and great optimism. Public service taught me the requirement of strong partnerships. They are the key to success. I am thankful to have you as a partner in helping The Tabernacle Choir organization continue its worldwide mission. Your donations and continual support are essential.
I have always felt that the Choir’s music was my personal conduit for a spiritual connection with God. That’s a connection I want the entire world to experience. One of my goals is to expand the use of digital tools to help global audiences hear the Choir’s music.
I expect the Choir to be able to return to more live performances in the coming months. We will keep members of the Choir organization and audiences safe by following Church guidelines during this transition.
The world needs the Choir’s music now more than ever to heal and feel peace and joy. I am so grateful for your partnership that makes this possible.
