Finding a New Groove

When I graduated from high school, it was in the middle of quarantine. Everything seemed to have flipped upside down in an instant. It took me a while to figure out my next step in life. So before I made my final decision whether I should serve a mission, I decided to go to college. After leaving my childhood home and getting into the rhythm of my first semester of college, I didn’t want to “throw off my groove” by going on a mission. It didn’t feel right. Why would I want to disrupt all these good things that were happening? But as I knelt down in prayer, I received this thought from the Holy Ghost: “If you don’t go now, when will you ever find time?” I had to trust that God would make things work.

Within a week, I started my papers. A month after that, I got my call to labor in the Adriatic South Mission, serving in Macedonia. I don’t know why I have been called to this small country with only 10 or so members, but one thing that I do know is that I have an unwavering faith in Christ. I know that by pouring out my soul to Him and His work, He will guide me as I sow the seeds of His gospel.

"I had to trust that God would make things work."

I have been in the MTC for almost seven weeks now. But because of the worldwide pandemic, I am experiencing the MTC at home. It has definitely been different than what I expected, but I feel like God has prepared me for it. There are some days where it is hard to remember my purpose as a missionary, especially now that I’m back home, surrounded by the walls of my youth. But just a few days ago, as I was searching for a scripture to share with my district, I came across Mosiah 27:36–37, which says:

“And thus they were instruments in the hands of God in bringing many to the knowledge of the truth, yea, to the knowledge of their Redeemer.

“And how blessed are they! For they did publish peace; they did publish good tidings of good; and they did declare unto the people that the Lord reigneth.”

I know that my testimony has grown while I’ve found my “new groove” in the MTC. As I begin to share my knowledge of our Redeemer with the people of Macedonia, I know that the Lord will bless me and those I serve.
